Formatting c: -

I'm trying to format my c: drive with a DOS boot floppy. I go into DOS, type

format c:

and I get the answer:

Cannot format a network drive

I have come across this problem before, and I know its not very hard to solve, I just cant remember how I did it!

Many thanks.

Never had that problem but it sounds like your C drive is NTFS or something and the DOS format command cannot access it.

Use FDisk to delete and re-create the partition.

Oh OF COURSE! My drive is FAT32... That must be it.

You jogged my memory 🙂 FDisk is what solved it last time. Thanks Mitzi 🙂 Again.. 😉
