Need a PSU Recomendation

Okay my latest toy is almost done...and I need a GOOOD power supply, that is not extremley expensive.

My system consist of the Soyo P4x400 MB, with a p4 2.53 w/533 FSB, 2 512 sticks of DDR 3200, 80 gig Western dig Special edition HD 8meg cache. light on 40 speed burner, DVD-ROM, 3 case fans that also have LED's in them, along with a UV Cold Cathode Light, SB audigy, Geforce 4 Ti4600 (will be upgrading to an 8x agp card as soon as nvidia releases one), Possibly adding a second Cathode in the near future, along with a couple more HD's since I have the onboard raid controller.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions 🙂

Both are good PSU's the Antec 400 watt P4 is 60 bucks, the Enermax 431 watts is 80, so its your call. I prefer to go with Antec cause they are also more commercially available at like CompUSA etc etc.

My favorites are Enermax, Antec, and PC Power & Cooling, in that order. If I were you, I'd make sure that you get an Antec TruePower, not an Antec SmartPower. Not that the SmartPower won't work, but the TruePowers are far superior. The lowest wattage I'd get would be the Antec TruePower 330W. My personal suggestion would be the Enermax 365 (it's actually 350W I believe, just called 365). Plenty of power for a good price. I'm powering 5 hard drives, 5 fans, a floppy, two optical drives, GF3 Ti200 vid card, AXP 1900+, and a sound card with my 435W Enermax Whisper Series, and it's not even breaking a sweat. My last power supply (300W) was hot to the touch!

Just go to Pricewatch.com and find the biggest one that hits your price range just right. You won't need any more than a 330W PS, but you might want a bigger one just for safety's sake.

Good quality PSU like Antec,Enermax,Sparkle,Enhance etc can be found at good prices so shop around.

🙂

Thanks for the suggetions, I decided to go with a truepower 330 🙂 I belive it was hehe.. I have not recieved it and do not quite remember which one I ordered since I was half asleep when I did, but I know it was a trupower and I THINK it was a 330... hehe

If you can find a Topower PS for cheaper than Antec/Enermax, then go for it. I bought a Topower 370W Dual-fan for CDN$70 (~$46), and it was more than enough for my overclocked P4 .

I always have problems with Enermax 5V lines when I heavily overclock my system. Without a POT mod, Enermax almost gurantee a low +5V rail.

Antec PSU's seem to hold their voltages consistently across a wider range of motherboards. Their fans are also quiet so if I have to choose between Antec and Enermax, I would pick Antec.

Yep, those have been my experiences as well. Antec Truepower 430W is available in many retail B&M outlets (CompUSA, BB) for around $99...I'm sure they can be found cheaper online.
