need a POS system

i search for pos but most of the results are for piece of sht not point of sale 😛

im looking for a good pos solution that can

1. integrate with quickbooks
2. keep customer info
3. do semi-custom touch screen menus
4. do credit cards
5. keep track of inventory

i want to go with something good, but cost is an issue. wondering actually if there are any good linux solutions? ive only looked at windows so far

this part doesnt really belong in software but id be interested in a complete stations that include software (touch screen, thin client, cash drawer) if anyone wants to recommend one of those. im looking to spend around $1500 per register with hardware and software, but that might be difficult... software and touchscreen seem to be the priciest

Heh, sorry cant help you but i though you meant you wanted somone to build you a piece of sh*t system for cheap or somthing 😛

u guys r funny 😛

799 is steep im hoping to find something cheaper

and yes quickbooks has pos software, but the ease of use in the touch screen mode is not what i need apparently. from what ive heard the touchscreen function operates only as a crude mouse and the interface is the normal quickbooks one. need something semi-custom that is super ez to use

Quickbooks (Intuit) sells POS systems that run quickbooks POS natively...they are pricey though since they seem to come with Symbol equipment and such🙁

Search for "point of sale system" not POS, I did with Yahoo and got plenty of results. Start looking here, it's a list of POS software makers but there are also 2 sub-categories, one of which is retailers of POS systems it looks like.

i appreciate the leads, but the reason i came to anadtech is for recommendations and whats best for the price -i.e. opinions. for facts, i know how to google or yahoo 😛 but still thanks for the help

POS is something you have to find that works for you, i could recommend several, but they may not be what you need, if you are looking for more touch screen i would look at 3par for hadware or variance i think is another one

software wise it is really about what works the best for you since there are so many its hard to give you good advice, besides the quickbook software which i have never used,

I have used datavantage store21(don't recommend) and propiatary software i support now, i have looked at nextor which is thin client and spirit pos.

i know this is vague wish i could help more
