Hi everyone. I've been looking at a lot of point and shoot cameras lately. I don't know anything about cameras, or even typically good "brand" names so I looked online for reviews, but none of them are definitive. There are always great reviews but also ones that contradict them COMPLETELY. So to make things simple, I'm looking for the following:

Point and Shoot with decent picture quality/features.
Rechargeable Battery (not AA batteries)
Not too expensive. (Nothing over 150 bucks. Cheaper the better)
Weight/bulkiness does not matter.
Color does not matter.

Thanks everyone!

Look at the Panasonic Lumix line of point and shoots. They offer more features and controls than the equivalent Canon Powershots, along with equal (if not slightly better) image quality.

I would advise you stay away from Nikon for P&S cameras, since their P&S line is pretty weak compared to their DSLRs.

If you want to narrow down your choices more, you need to be a little more specific. Do you want big zoom or something that fits in your pocket? Do you need manual controls and HD video? What about other features like waterproofing or ultra-wide angle zoom? The Lumix line contains cameras with many combinations of features, size, and price, so you need to carefully consider your needs.

NS1,

Why did you get the ZR1 when the ZS3 is selling for the same price and is a better camera with more zoom? Also the ZS1 is selling for $199. It is pretty much the same camera except for the HD video which you really don't need. It gets vide at 848 by 400 something. That's good enough.

Personally I would have waited for the just released ZS5 model or maybe the FS30 or FS33. I've been told they will be on the shelves in March and will be 12 megapixels instead of 10, have up to 16 optical zoom and also have some image stabilization improvement plus faster response times.

azemsiB,

If you can't afford these panasonic cameras which will be in the $200 or higher range, then by your budget of $150, you should seriously look at the
Canon PowerShot A1100 IS Digital Camera, around $130
12.4 Megapixel, 2.5 in. LCD Screen, 4x Optical Zoom, With Video Capability, Weight: 0.34 lb.

or the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS.
