i need a adapter so i can connect the guitar from guitar hero 3 on to my computer. would any adapter i find on ebay work. also are there any drivers that i would need to use the guitar hero controller on my computer

Assuming that GH3 has the same button layout as GH, any adapter should work, as long as you can configure the button mappings in whatever software/game you're playing. The drivers should come with the adapter.

There is an issue in DDR with some adapters mapping the d-pad to a joystick (making it impossible to hit certain multiple-foot steps), but it shouldn't be a problem with GH, since the strum bar is up or down only.

but what about hitting multiple frets. i've heard about joy2key. would that work
After looking up the button layout, I don't think multiple frets will be a problem, but I've never tested it. I've used 3 PS2 -> USB adapters, 1 had the DDR d-pad problem that I mentioned, 2 didn't. All 3 should work with GH.

I'm not familiar with joy2key, but it seems like it's a software joystick -> keyboard emulator. It could be useful if you need to map buttons.
