Need a Performance HSF for a HTPC

I need a Heatsink and Fan for a X6 1075T thats currently in my HTPC.

Here is the situation:

I have a Nmedia 5000b case. It is kind of small being a mATX and HTPC case. I have a 1075T running on its stock cooler overclocked to 3.5GHz with Cool and Quiet enabled to keep it quiet. (i know not ideal)

For 90% of what I do, the stock fan keeps this thing quiet and in the 40's. (Its used mostly as network storage and media playback, but using acceleration for the most part for blu ray or DVXA for files) So noise never is a concern with the Stock HSF too for the most part.

The other 10% is converting files using ConvertXtoDVD to DVD format on Double Layer DVD's. (Mostly TV Seasons)

When doing this, I choose time critical and to use all 6 cores, and its loads my system up at 100% at 3.5GHz (which is really only time the power of this CPU is ever used). The temps get really high (64-65) and the RPM's get in the 6000's on the Stock HSF.

Is there any Air HSF's that are fairly low profile that would fit in my case and keep my CPU in the 50's at Load O/C'd? Id be happy with that.

I have a Artic Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 kicking around but it wouldn't fit as it was to tall.

Also the H50/H70, or Coolit Eco like I have in my other system which kicks ass would be so ideal, but I don't have any Fan slots big enough to use it. (1 80mm in front, 2 x 60mm in back)

Suggestions?

EDIT: 2nd Question... I just used the stock paste that came with the Stock HSF. I have some Artic Cooling Aluminum Paste here too, would it be any better or worth switching?

You can try the Scythe Mini Ninja. I run it in my HTPC in an Antec NSK2480 which looks to be of similar height to your Nmedia 5000b. You may need to adjust your temperature expectations, however, as an overclocked hex core at full load would probably put out a lot of heat. With the Scythe Mini Ninja you'll probably get a bit better temps at lower noise levels than stock, but it won't come close to what a huge heatsink can do.

CoolIt ECO C80 A.L.C.

It will be limited on how much heat a 1x80mm radiator can expel, but it is an option.

The ECO C80 is hard to find! It can be found on Coolits website but its $90.

I paid $65 plus shipping for the 120mm version.

I am thinking about drilling holes in top of the case and maybe mounting another 120mm ECO on the top of the case? Would that work ok?

I have the Coolermaster GeminII S and it fits in my nMediaPC 6000B HTPC case.

I want the eco Coolit 80mm, went to buy it, $55 shipping within my own country? Screw that, I talked to then and they will get back to me tomorrow. The 80mm versions are custom built on demand right in Calgary, no way shipping us 55 bucks.

You live in Canada and they wanted $55 for just shipping costs? Wow.

LMK how it goes tomorrow once they get back to you. I have a contact within the company. Don't know if he can do anything about the shipping because he's not in Canada, but I'm sure he'd love to hear feedback.

yeah it was $55.00 for fedex ground or $60 for fedex air, no other options.

Sorry about the grammar I'm on my cell phone most of the time.

I had a great convo with "Barry" at Coolit yesterday who explained the high costs of the 80 and 92mm Eco's are not mass produced but made on demand within 3 days of ordering in Calgary. He offered me $10 off to help me out. When I went to buy I discovered the crazy shipping price. I've tried to contact Barry multiple times today with no response back. I don't think I'm being out of the loop here, yes I asked yesterday to see if could come down any on price which they did, but do they really expect people to pay 55-60 plus tax for shipping? I think I'm being reasonable to question the shipping price.

I really want the alc c80 but I'm not spending 150 for one with tax and shipping.

He just wrote me saying the website shipping rate is inaccurate for my address and they are trying to figure out why.

Quoted me $17. Much better.

Placed order.

Would a small case mod be feasible to allow you to use a 120mm water cooler from your choices above? A few minutes with a drill or dremel might work wonders.

I was going to do that as last resort.

Already got the 80mm rad on it's way. I'll give it a review I've I've got it. I'm gonna sit it up fir push and pull.

I'm using the Silverstone NT07 on my Core i7-860. It works great, has a high and low speed setting (as well as mobo pwm), and is fairly low profile. I have a core temp of 55C currently while running Bad Company 2 at 1440x900, highest settings in an SG-05)

I ended up getting the Coolit alc 80mm.

I was a Tad disappointed. It performs a little better than stock with push/pull, but not well enough for overclocking.

I am just going to go stock. I simply don't have room or airflow in my htpc to allow it. I just thought I would so I could.

I am keeping the Coolit as it's near silent during encoding, while the stick cooler would get up to 5500 rpm and could hear it over the tv!

"Near silent" with similar performance to "5500 RPM" while using a simple 80mm rad actually doesn't sound too terrible to me from a performance/noise level/physical size standpoint.

Glad you got the shipping issues sorted out, at least.

Nope. It worked out well that way.

I was hoping for a tad bit better performance for overclocking and its about on par with the Stock cooler.

Will a Scythe Big Shuriken fit?

This is what I use in my HTPC with a Noctua 120mm fan. Very quiet and keeps an OC Q6600 at reasonable temps. It is a very, very tight fit with the rear exhaust fans on my case.

I don't think it would fit a mATX case, but it's worth looking at dimensions.

I own a big shirk and to be honest I thought it sucked performance wise, not any better than stock but quiet.

I am selling the 1075T and changing my PC's around over the next week, so this thread isn't applicable anymore.
