Need a novel solution to case cooling

I have this mobo:
http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=asusnf4pro&page=3
for my dual opteron workstation, which coincidentally also houses a overclocked 7800GTX.

This has beena great mobo, rock solid, and has all the features that I would ever need (sans SCSI); but the problem is that with two CPU sockets aligned vertically, it forces me to put put the GF card near the bottom of the case; and I also have two PCI cards right below it in the two slots. The 7800GTX is also an extremely long card, which almost goes the entire width of the board. Some times, the hot air gets trapped near the bottom of the case, because the air from that pseudo compartment at the bottom does not flow freely with the rest of the case upward from the graphics card.

I have put 80mm fans whereever i could, and right now threre are 6 case fans running, keeping most of the case very cool and ventilated, not so for the part below the graphics card. What I need is some type of ventilation within the case, facilitating the vertical airflow so that air does not become trapped at the bottom. I was thinking about getting a fan mounted onto an expansion slot cover, that blows vertically within the case; it would also has to be mounted in such a way as for the fan to be lifted away from the motherboard, so the path of the fan would clear the width of the graphics card itself; does anyone here know of a company that sells an implementation close to this??

Also, does anyone have a different solution?? I'm all ears.

Please, please, let me know.

Maybe put a fan on the side of the case either blowing cool air in or sucking the hot air out?

thanks,

There is already one, except that its position is above that of the graphics card; so if I want a side fan to pull air from the graphics card, I would need to make a second hole myself on the see-through side-panel; and I sure don't have the expertise to do that.

If your willing to give up a PCI slot......here`s a solution....

Good Luck!!

Thanks Yoda, but I don't think I have enough PCI slots as it is. If I had more I would have used them, and I really wish I can buy a PCIE X1 sound card to free one up, but that's not happening at the moment.

I found this:

What do you think of this as a solution??

motherboard/component ducting

With the fans, you have more fans. With this, it's a lot of work and trouble. You should qualify for some sort of architectural profession just by doing it successfully. My own ducts are long on simplicity and short on minimizing volume or the space through which the air travels. But I can tell you, it works to one degree or another if you can cope with the design aspects.

Thx for the article my friend!!

Got the old brain working....

That dude system would look even better had he used some form of thin plexiglas in stead of the black board....plus I always have like plexiglas ducts and such,,,you can still see whats going on...🙂
