Need a new wireless router .. do I REALLY need dual-band

I am going the blu-ray route this week, my Samsung player will be able to stream Netflix movies and Pandora, which I am pretty excited about.

A few months ago my D-Link G router bit the dust, it was about 5 years old and I didn't like it anyway.

So, shopping for a new router is a beating, since there is obviously the "n" spec to consider, then the dual band, dual channel stuff.

I will not be gaming wirelessly, and from what I can tell a straightforward single channel "n" router is plenty. The distance from the router to the player is abou 25 feet, although a couple of walls are in the way. Won't this be enough?

anyways.. I have issues with dlink(no technical of course.) Like, the adapter. its so loose i mean it always keeps falling of the wall socket

anyways go for the wireless router not the wireless access point !!! the access point might seem costlier but is less featured than the router !!!(here in India I was mislead and bought a access point for 3500rps where as i could got a router for 2500rps !!!(50 rps = 1$))

Simultaneous dual-band devices such as the Linksys WRT400N, WRT610N, D-Link DIR-825 give you more flexibility for both sorts of clients, but tend to cost significantly more for the dual radio support. 5 GHz support is great if you don't have significant distance or obstructions, or have 2.4 GHz crowding / interference, and can afford the premium for the router and compatible clients.

Some will, some won't. I seem to recall Netgear making a statement that when N gets finalized, any of their draft-N routers will be able to upgraded. They went on to say that in the event that the finalized spec required more than a firmware upgrade, they would replace a draft-N router will one that met the finalized spec. I cannot recall if this free replacement applied to routers that were out of warranty (since I cannot recall right now what Netgear's standard warranty is).

In the Big letters (aka marekting) it says Yes.

In the small letters (aka legal reality) it says No promise (read the small lines in all of their data sheets).

The main problem with Not having a Standard is a fight between the manufacturers about features.

By default would be the few that would Win and probably would be able to Upgrade, the rest is a small maybe, and a big No.

Mean time the best solution for Vey good stable Wireless is this.
