Since I have had my current wireless router for like 5 years, I have not been keeping up with all things wireless. I currently own a Netgear Wireless router (model uknown -- it's old) but the wireless has stopped working. My house is hardwired with 24 network drops (network cables routed into attic, come out in the master closet, connected to TRENDnet patch panel, connected to TRENDnet gigabit switch, connected to router, connected to modem, all on a Belkin rack) but my wife likes to use the wireless on her laptop.
I'm just looking for recommendations on a new router. It must have remote management, the ability to assign a static IP range outside of the DHCP range, and advanced control over port forwarding. Rack mountable is a plus. Anything else is just cake.
My wife's laptop is a new Apple so I think it uses 802.11g -- not sure. I have read to stay away from "Draft N" but I don't think I even need that in the first place.
