Since my 8500 decayed, i'm looking to buy a new card...

Any suggestions? Only around the $150 range please.... I had bad experiences with ATI's 8500 so I'd perfer a Nvidia card.

I was originally looking at a radeon 9000 pro but i'm not sure if it decays just like the 8500.

Can anybody tell me if there's some problems with the current ATI models/Nvidia?

EDIT: I looked at the radeon 9600 pro and it looks good for the price, though I'm not sure if there are decaying problems with the 9600 pro. Can anybody tell me if they had problems with their 9600?

U can get a 9500 Pro in the same prce range. 9600 Pro is MUCH weaker than a 9500 Pro (dont mind the 600, or 500. 9600 is the "lite" version of 9500, which is already a "lite" version of 9700).
If u travel the ati path - 9500 Pro from Sapphire. I heard its like 140 something on newegg.
If u travel the nVidia path - try to find the 4600. Its the most powerful of the IV generatrion.

i was thinking of the 9500 pro too, but sadly i can't find any in newegg left.

I want to be able to play HL 2 and doom 3 when it comes out. I was also looking at the FX 5600 ultra but thats expensive :(

edit: Ti4600 The 1st one is albatron... anybody heard about that? The next cheapest one is above $200

Son, FX5600 is weaker than 9500 pro or 9700. Really odd. I would really try to find the 9500 pro, or 970 non-pro. U see, 4600 is fast. But, unfortunately, its becoming archaic. It doesnt have DX9 support, and when aa or af (which i got addicted to) will slow it down significantly. Im shocked: where did 9500 Pros go all of a sudden?! I cant even find it on pricewatch!
Your best bet is to find 9700 non pro (labout 210), or get a 4600. Yes, u will be able to run doom, or whatever it be on either 4600 or 9700 with kick-ass framerates.

They need to make a sticky about the Asus V8420S... by reading your post... it looks like this card would do you a lot of good... they're $145 shipped from newegg.com... and they overclock easily to Ti4600 speeds and beyond. I have one, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the sub $150 price range.
