I'm stuck between getting a 32" and a 37" tv for the bedroom. Primary will be for gaming and of course some tv watching. I'm afraid that a 32" won't satisfy me, what do you guys think? The bad faces the tv (which will be hung on the wall most likely) and probably about 5ft away give or take.

I was looking at this one which seems like an excellent deal but I can't seem to find any reviews on it!!

Sceptre X372BV-FHD

I also have a Sharp Aquos LC-37GP1U lined up that I can get 'used' for $325. I just don't know which would be a better deal. I like the Sceptre better for the inputs being away from the wall.

Budget...no more than $350 and no bigger than a 37"...I don't think a 40" would fit on this particular wall (although I should measure again tonight) because it's just a small section between the entry door and closet door.

measure :p

Remove closet door if necessary

Well, that is 36" wide, which means with a 16:9 ratio TV, you can fit a 42" TV that has a 1" bezel around it (and still have like 1 inch of play).

You're right! (just measured and it's actually almost 4ft of space), I placed a 32" tv up there, and I don't think I want to go that small...I'm thinking 37-40, unless I can find a good deal on a 42"...but that'd be the absolute biggest.

So...here's one that I had looked at previously...

That seller has a few of those, or at least did. ^_^ I thought it was a decent price on an LED which I think would be nice.

Good Deals? Have you entered your e-mail @ newegg site? Newegg sends e-mails every Tuesday and Thursday with good deals, also, now on saturdays too.

And don't forget about Free Shipping newegg offers on most deal items...It matters when you buy TV...
And no one ships faster than newegg does.

LED or LCD?
http://www.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/hdtv/led-vs-lcd.html

Difference in picture quality isn't as big as difference in price...

Brands to consider, I think, either Samsung or LG - if CCFL LCD or LED Backlit LCD, Panasonic - if for Plasma...

So with LED's does it matter 60hz vs 120hz?

I for one, hate 120Hz on LCD's b/c it gives it that $20 look to it? So, if it looks the same as it does on LCD's, I could care less about it.

120Hz/240Hz will have the same effect on an LED tv as it does on an LCD. I hate it as well. That's one big reason I went plasma. You can get a good 42" Samsung plasma that will destroy any LED/LCD tv at its price level ($450 or under).

I purchased my Insignia (Samsung, actually) display from Best Buy last year & have absolutely no complaints. The only drawback (& it's a small drawback), is that it only has 2 HDMI connectors.

I paid $380 for it when it went on sale before Christmas.

Anyway, it's a 42" plasma & accepts (displays) 1080p. It is over your budget, but it's the best deal you'll find for a 42" (price & quality).

Anyway, it's a 42" plasma & supports (displays) full 1080p, even though it's not marketed as a 1080p display. Connect a BR player to it & you're good to go. It is over your budget, but it's the best deal you'll find for a 42" (price & quality).

err, it's does not display 1080p...it can handle a 1080p signal.

Well, I'm looking for 37-42 max...I'd rather not do a plasma since they're a bit heavier (this'll be hanging on the wall) and it seems that all of'em I've looked at I don't like as much as the LCD's picture-wise.

Fair enough. FWIW, the Insignia was a breeze to wall mount. Good luck in your search.

The Sharp weighs 43/51.8 lbs (without stand/with stand)
The 43" Samsung Plasma weighs 35.3/41.9
The 42" Samsung Plasma weighs 38.6/48

The weight thing is a relic from a few years ago. There are really only three reasons to get an LCD over a plasma (4 if you include bragging that you got an LED LCD):

1 - Glare
2 - You want to use it as a computer monitor
3 - You need a tv smaller than 42"

Comparing a plasma to an LCD in a showroom is the absolute worst way to pick a television. LCDs by nature are brighter and attract attention at the expense of color accuracy, contrast and detail. Additionally, LCD/LED will introduce motion blur and you did say that you wanted to use it for gaming. Most retailers put their tvs in "blowout mode" that you'll want to turn down when you get home.

Don't get me wrong, the Sharp will probably serve you just fine, but it is nowhere in the same league as the 42" plasmas from Samsung, Panasonic or even LG. You're doing yourself a huge disservice by eliminating them based on old information. I have a 26" LED LCD in my bedroom and a 50" plasma upstairs in the living room. Both are 1080p and the 26" LCD looks great in its own right, but guess which one I end up watching late at night when I should be in bed. I still get blown away when I come upstairs and watch tv after I've been watching the LCD downstairs.
