Need a new router - which of these?

Basically here's the crack.
4 of us in a 3 storey house.

24meg line.

Need the best possible router money no object for online gaming, downloads (bit torrent etc), watching trailers, surfing and so on. As you can imagine, we need a great signal and throughput. And a consistant ping or near abouts for online gaming.

I've done a fair bit of research and these seem to be the top two routers for my needs.

Belkin Pre-N

D-Link DGL-4300

Two of my mates are using macs with airport and I will have to buy a new usb wireless adapter as will another friend.

I was thinking of going with the Netgear WN121T RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N USB Adapter or another, as I dont think the Belkin Pre-N wireless PCI adapter will fit (no space left in my case).

What do you guys think?
Do you have any other recommendations?
What is the best adsl modem to get to use with the router?

All answers will be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks

Wow, how did you end up with a 24Mb pipe? No consumer router is going to be able to handle those speeds with the loads you are talking about. I would suggest either going with a Linux box (Astaro is a capable, easy to setup solution once you grasp the basics) or a business class appliance.

Erm.....wow you've just confused me 😛
Why is no consumer router going to be able to handle a 24 meg line?
It's not that high is it? I mean average these days is 4-8meg.

What is a linux box?

I just want to have a wireless router and adsl modem that will let me get some decent online gaming is all 😛

Anyway, here's the ISP site.

Linksys RV042

D-Link DFL-200

Linksys RVS4000 (I am looking at this one myself)

Safe@Office (Although I am starting to not like these since updates require a subscription and you?re limited to 5 users)

I would pick one of those. There's more I would recommend but I am tired and can't find the links. If you are spending big money on a connection then buy an enterprise level firewall, better than going through consumer ones every few months. I would recommend a firewall like Monowall or freesco if you have an old computer lying around but you should be familiar with configuring hardware firewalls before venturing into these. I would buy a consumer grade wireless AP for your wireless needs and let the router work by itself.

I went and bought a D-Link DGL-4300.

Seems to be the top gamers choice. I'll use that for a few months until a new gamer version comes out with MIMO aswell.
I dont think these business routers are ideal for me.

Really anybody that can go wired should. Wire is cheap and wireless has all kinds of latency issues that can effect game play. 4 heavy users and yuck city.
