Hi. My parents need a new wireless solution for an old house. Right now we are using 2 routers connected by powerline bricks, and the problem is that if you're on one network, you cannot see or use printers or whatever from the other network. Either the internet is terrible, or the routers are starting to have problems, so it's time to fix everything in one go.

After a bit of research, it looks like the Ubituiti routers are pretty good. If I was going to get the UniFi AP, I would still need a wired router. Do you guys have any recommendations? Range is a priority, which is why I'm looking at the Ubituiti APs.

That, or just tell me what to do. I need something reliable and capable of reaching 400ft indoors.

You can use your existing routers.
Put the 2nd router as an AP only, connect the Powerline network into a LAN port of the 1st router and into a LAN port of the 2nd. It will make one single network. Disable the DHCP server on the 2nd AP.
Configure the 1st router wireless as channel 1, and configure the 2nd router wireless as channel 11.

I use UniFi, it does have a little further wireless reach, works very well, partly because you mount the APs on the ceiling or wall.
