Hi everyone. My computer constantly reboots itself and I think it's the PSU. I would like to upgrade it.

System specs:

Windows 7 x64
i5-750
Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 LGA 1156 Intel P55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
HIS Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16
Spinpoint F3 500GB 7200 RPM
Antec Basiq BP500U 500W
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 RPM [This was added a year later in October of 2010]

I would prefer something with more power maybe 650W?

You can...but shouldn't need to unless you have plans to upgrade your video card...or add a second one.

That system shouldn't draw more than about 300 watts at load.

Of course, I'm one of the folks who prefers a significant amount of "headroom" when sizing my PSU, and I'd probably get something between 550 and 650 if that were mine...even though I KNOW I don't NEED that much.
Try to find a QUALITY power supply. IMO, the Seasonic builds by Antec, Corsair, XFX, and Seasonic are the most reliable choices, but Kingwin and NZXT HALE units are very good as well.

Even though I overclock my system?

That was left out of your OP...

Are you sure the re-boot problem isn't related to the overclock? Could it be a RAM issue?
Try running Memtest86+ on each stick of RAM to see if you have issues.

It's entirely possible that it's your PSU. You don't say how old the power supply is.

That Basiq BP500U is an FSP build with 35A on the 12v rail.

If you're heavily overclocked, you might be pushing the PSU to the max...

Here's a thread about calculating your overclock wattage:

Not dead-nuts precise, but should be pretty close.
