HI ,
My problem is .. whenever i start reading cds in my dvd or cdrom my HD(sata) will turn off.... is this a sign of faulty power supply ? I have been using this system for a year .. no problem until now ... any idea?

system
2 HD
1 dvdrom 1 cdrw
5 case fans
videocard 9600pro
1G ram
soundcard.

No, I've never heard of that. What is your 12v rail reading, while Windows is running?

edit: Nevermind, I just checked your system rig. Yeah, you need a new psu. I recommend this Enermax (it's got the most 12v power of any psu I've ever seen): link. You can run a 3.0C at 4.0ghz and a watercooling setup, along with a 9800XT with that psu, and it's not very expensive.

well .... after my sata turn off my system hang ..then it will retart .. when boot into bios .. it says hardware monitor 12v problem, then i go into bios setup hardware monitor; my 12v monitor shows red color something like warning ... ... but after i shut it down and turn it on again ..everything goes fine ..until i put a cds into my dvd or cdrw... well tomorrow i think i gonna check is it something loss in connection .. but before that any idea ? power supply dying ?

I would go buy a new PS, and if that doesn't fix the problem you can return it. It sounds to me that it is the PS though.

well it turns out is the sata cable lossen ... i hate those 4 pin connectors from pata to sata convertor. Now everything works fine.... yes in couple of months i will get a more powerfuly PS since i wanna upgrade to intel C and radeon 9800pro. thanks for all the replies !

If you're going to upgrade your power supply, get at least a 480W so you can run the latest generation video cards. The new nVidia offerings recommend 480W plus.

Cheers,
