My fate is in your hands ATOT, I use alltel and I need a new phone, what should I get? (Bonus points if its stainless steel or a slider or both). (Even more bonus points if its cheap 🙂 )

ummm well stainless steel the e815 has some steel looking parts but...
i just got a slider-remix and i love it especially since it came with the USB cord
basically the day i got it i spent 5 hours making ringtones(order a bigger memory card)
and then another hour not really hacking but more..modding my phone. or what i mean is i quadrupled the video capture length and unlocked 2 free games if u get a slider and would like to know how to do either making ringtones or unlocking the games just pm me or look on howardforums they're like ATOT for phones

about the actual phone
-batery life is some what bad compared to other current phones
+probly best MP3 player on a phone
+speakerphone
+or- external speaker IS LOUD
+camera pics look good(assuming u have decentlighting)
+flash for camera
+comes with a headset that has voice dialing capabilities as well as controlling the mp3 player
+memory card expansion (i got a 512MB for 38$ after shipping on newegg)
slider=cool points
-not normally cheap i got mine with a 90$ rebate to make it 90$ total (180$ -90$ rebate =90$)
-Bluetooth is somewhat restricted basically only used for headsets(due to altell's tinkering)

lots of ATOT users have E815's which is a flip phone and somewhat comparable to slider-remix but i went with slider largly bcuz of the free USB cabel(its not a standard USB cabel it hooks directly from phone to USB

dear god i didnt ramble on did i? ......SH!T i did sorry🙁 but i hope thats enough info pm me if u have a specific question

I don't mind if I have to get it off the internet somewhere or at an alltel store, I just want to be sure it'll work.

No those won't work.

THe selection is pretty crappy. You can get one of Alltel's phones or a Verizon one which is CDMA also. But a VZW phone is gonna be retail priced, so you're pretty much stuck with Alltel's small selection of Motos, LG, Audiovox, and Kyocera phones.

I created a similar thread a couple months back.

I ended up with a Razr V3c.

Pretty sweet, though I didn't know at the time that Alltel V3c runs some lame-ass BREW as opposed to Java. I was hoping to transfer a bunch of Java games and Java apps over but you can't with BREW since AFAIK it's like a DRM-heavy version of Java. But I still picked up a PSP USB cable for $5 that works with the V3c. But at least the Alltel ones don't have the lame Verizon firmware. I hear the Bell and Telus (Canada) firmwares for the V3c use Java still. So hopefully the crackers will figure that out sometime soon for us Verizon and Alltel users. It is possible to flash a Verizon one to Alltel firmware, so hopefully Alltel ones can be flashed to something else.
