Hi ,

I just bought a new P4 2.8Gz Northwood 800FSB , because my old ones pins bent , but now iv'e since relised my Lan Party 875PRO board has gone as we'll .

So i was wondering what you guys think would be the best chioce for me , as ive not really being keeping track of motherboards lately [ been to busy learning everything i can about SuSE Linux 9.1 :D ]

So my old DFI LP 875PRO got my P4 2.6Gz Northwood 800FSB chip up to 3.6Gz so i was thinking about buying other revision of that board :-
DFI Lanparty Pro875 B i875Pro @ £104.28

If anyone has a better choice id appreciate their input . :)

Thanks

I have that cpu, and use an msi 865pe neo2 LS. Currently running at 3640 (260 fsb). This board is discontinued, but still available at some venders. It has lots of standard features, but no raid or firewire. The voltage adjustments are incredible, all the way up to 2.1 for the cpu, but no undervoltage adjustments. The abit is7 is also good, and prices are down.

Abit IC7-G for me or you could get the MAXX3. I have mine OCed P4 2.8C to 3.5GHZ (250MHZ FSB on Standard Core voltage (1.525V) with Corsair XMS PC4000 Twinx Memory, Runs great and is the system I am typing on right now. This board has some nice features, the board includes TWO Serillel controllers. The Intel and the Silicon image, enabling you to have up to 4 Serial ATA Devices. If you plan on getting a Serial ATA optical drive then use the Intel controller on the board (First 2) because the Silicon Image one has problems with Optical drives apparently. Onboard 6 channel Sound, Firewire, USB 2.0 S/PDIF IN OUT with other standard features. I bought mine at Frys because I wanted to see if it would fit in my system, and had no problems installing it.

Can't Recommend lower end Abit motherboards becuase I have one installed on my cousin's system and it's notoriously buggy.

Hi ,

Thanks for the input , decided to go with an Abit IC7 for price reasons as ive just bought a new P4 chip so im pretty skint at the moment .

It was between the P4P800 -E Deluxe and the IC7 or IC7-G i took the IC7 it had everything i wanted :-

SATA , FSB 800 support , HT , Dual Channel mem , and it was a good price of £63 .

I thought at first i had onboard Gigabit LAN because the port is there and the board came with an IC7-G instruction booklet but the box and board say IC7 v1.1 .

Im pretty new to overclocking Intel boards , but not completely as i just scrapped a Lan Party 875PRO and a P4 2.6 800 NW :| [ I bent the pins when it got stuck to the underside of the heatsink , and then mashed the CPU retition under the white platic sliding mechinism when i tried to force it back in :| ]
