Hello,

I bought the MX 500 last year. I personally think the mouse need to be a little bit bigger to perfectly fit in my hand. however I really like this mouse. but for about the last 2 months, the mouse randomly stop responding for about 2-3 seconds in my desktop/games. I tried the USB and the PS/2 port and they both have this problem. but it's even more noticeable in USB. I think the problem is coming from the connection between the wire and the mouse.

I might buy a new mouse soon, and really don't know wich one to buy. If I don't find something more interesting than my MX500 I'll probably buy the same one once again.

So, which mouse is the best on the market right now? I don't wan't a wireless mouse. I never used one before but I have bad feeling about them What about the battery lifetime, weight? etc..

Which mouse should I buy?

Thanks

Intellimouse Explorer 4 5-button with tilt wheel. I've used MX510 to this day but the intellimouse explorer is bigger and for some reason is more ergonomically fit for my big hand.

I know you mentioned no wireless but take a good look at this, large enough for a nice feel and very long battery life.

Not to mention, it's a steal at $24.99 shipped.

I have the Intellimouse Optical 1.1a, which you can find at ZipZoomFly for about $20. I've been very happy with it for the 6 months I've had it. I've never used the MX500, so I can't really compare the two.

I use the MX510 and the first thing I noticed was how big it was compared to my old HP optical mouse. But I guess some things just ain't big enough...

Great performance though, supposedly the best gaming mouse right now (unless you consider Razers but those are smaller).

The response time of the MX1000 is usually ~890µs. If you absolutely need to nail em in the center of the eye instead of the gneral head area, your SOL.

Bluetooth and gaming don't mix. RF smnokes it in response time

And you can disable the sensor that shuts the mouse off when you lift it.

I have a MX1000 and my Friend has the MX510, Both are awsome mice, as for the lag issues, I can't find any with my MX1000. If you do have lag issues with the MX1000 just try moving the base station, there might be some interference that is causing the trouble.

+1 vote for the MX510. I'm getting a red one for my next computer (all the parts should be here by the end of the week!!!)

i cannot say there is any noticable lag I am not a huge gammer but do play MOAPA with it and cannot say I have any problems and as for shooting them in the head I have no problem at all doing that . If you do then slow down the movement a bit so the curser does not move 5 inches with every 1/32 inch of movement. It is like everything different people different tastes and likes and dislikes. Try it and I bet you keep it.

How is the MX500 for gaming purposes, compared to the MX510? The reason that I'm asking is, I know someone with a logitech cordless desktop set, and I kind of like their MX-style mouse's "feel". But I'm also interested in gaming performance, but I also don't want to spend a lot. OfficeMax has the MX500 on clearance now for $20, is it worth it to pick up at that price, vs. whatever the regular price on an MX510 is? What about an MS Basic Optical for gaming, they also have that for only $10. (I actually know someone that is an awesome UT player, and he used an MS optical, looked like the basic model, for quite some time.) The MX500 has more buttons though. I wouldn't be installing the extra software, as that just increases latency for gaming. Do the extra buttons of the MX500 function in Windows' normally, without the extra software installed?
