Need a new office chair...again.

My old 'new' chair is really uncomfortable after only a few months. I currently work long hours from home, and spend a lot of time gaming too, so my chair gets a lot more use than it really ought to. They tend not to break, but the padding wears out/compresses down to nothing.

Time to lose some weight, clearly, but I need a new office chair in the mean time.

Looking for something that can take a sitting. I'm serious about my sitting.
Needs to be under $400. Any suggestions?

Well, if you want save $380, you could just go to the fabric store and get some batting or upholstery foam to reupholster the chair...

If you'd rather not go through the trouble, look for a suspension seat type chair. Herman Miller Aeron's are famous for this, but there are other manufactures that make similar seats.

Seriously. Pick up a couple memory foam pillows form Costco and make the most comfy chair evar!

yup, i have this at work, no cushion to worry about

The greatest chair I have ever had was a Recaro high-back dispatch chair. Amazingly comfortable for very long periods of time.

Unfortunately well out of his price range, but comes with a 12 year warranty if purchased from an authorized retailer. The going rate for the standard model was $750 at online authorized retailers last I checked, so if the OP figures he'd go through two or more $400 chairs in the next 12 years, it may be worthwhile to buy a more expensive chair that will last longer.

As always, the Aeron is not for everyone. Some people love it, some people hate it.

Edit: Looks like the prices have dropped a bit. At Sit4Less.com the basic model is $679, and the more adjustable model is $849. Used to be $749 and $949 respectively.
