I have cod 4 and fallout 3 goty which i just started but I have the itch for another game to play. I play at 1280x720 with no aa and no af at all times. Id appreciate it if you can suggest some good games to try out. Please keep in mind my rig in sig, its not the best by all means but its not the worst either, if I could run BC2 I would get it but I know its gonna run like butt on my rig.

I dont really want another shooter, i dont want a rpg for sure. I'm thinking some kind of racing game but I dont know what to get, I played the dirt 2 demo and didnt like it at all, I like rally on tv but playing it just doesnt do it for me. I played grid demo and liked it.

I want something that has a good story or a good online community, i dont want a super sim racer game maybe NFS shift would be a good picj up for me.

I just need something to hold me over until november when cod black ops comes out. So far ive played and beat these pc games crysis and bioshock, im currently playing cod4 and fo3 goty I just need more of a variety because as of now I am totally shootered out lol/

please feel free to suggest a game or two, I have a budget of $50 BTW. I cannot wait for red dead redemption to come to pc, but thats gonna be at least months lol

In january im gonna upgrade and switch to s1156 or s1366 and get a quad core, mobo, ram and video card so I will be able to run all games at my puiny res of 1280x720 lol

Give GRID a try. It's more of a sim than NFS: Shift, but still far from a true sim. It doesn't have much for a story / online community, but it's still a worthwhile game in my opinion. Plenty of hours of fun.

Company of Heroes, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory!

Both excellent games there (both cheap on steam...$10 each).

Also, I second the idea of getting GRID. It's a pretty fun game. It's not too sim like, yet not too arcadey. So if you played the demo and liked it, I definitely recommend getting that if you want a racer.

Also, try out Trackmania Nations. It might not be what you want in a racer, but most importantly, it's free. LINK

What? I think you have that backwards.

I would recommend both GRID and NFS: Shift. Shift is by far the more realistic one, though the damage model in Shift is balls when compared to GRID. Either way both are extremely fun.

I played NFS: Shift to death a few months ago, and it's a game best played on the arcade settings (you can switch from an arcade and sim handling mode, IIRC). I remember I played half the game in the sim mode, and the car would be finicky as hell, wanting to spin out at every freaking possible chance. You had to baby the car after every turn. Turn it to the arcade mode, and it instantly was a much more enjoyable racer.

I enjoy racing sims too, but NFS Shift wasn't that good in that aspect.

Ah, I played with most of the assists off except stability control, and ABS (you basically need them when using a controller). I found GRID much more "slippy", but that made for some extremely fun races, especially in multiplayer.

It's a 3rd person perspective, but I recommend Batman AA. Killer game. It's half off on Steam right now.

I got mw2 for $39.99 at BB a couple days ago but after reading up on it I kinda want to return in lol. I love cod games but I hate cheaters and I heard it's pretty bad since the game doesn't have punkbuster.

I really want to play it but I'm second guessing myself about it installing it right now cod4 looks like butt that's why I got mw2 but cheaters make me want to not install it.

I'm kinda debating getting a new mobo CPU ram and video card right now too. The upgrade will wait til January tho, I plan on getting a i5 750 CPU, some mobo 6gb of ram and I don't know what video card lol.

I'm probably gonna just install mw2 tho, between mw2 and fo3 I'll be plenty busy until January when I upgrade. The only game I'm looking forward to
is red dead redemption coming to pc, with the way r star portsmover to
pc I'm gonna need a quad core for that one lol...

A random suggestion: If you're into RTS', I'd recommend WH40K: Dawn of War II or Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.

It's really not that bad. Lack of dedicated servers is kinda crappy, but I have not run into too many cheaters (at least not that I noticed). Worst thing I have seen so far is a server that automatically levels you up to level 70 as soon as you join. I guess that could be good or bad depending on your perspective...

The more I think about all thisthe more I want to say screw it and buy a console, I hate waiting for games to port over and most of the time the games run like butt. I'm just gonna install mw2 and at Xmas just buy a darn console.

I won't have to worry about upgrades anymore or wait for craptastic ports. Pc gaming is sweet but at the same time it's a bit of a waste in my eyes. $300 for a 360 and rdr or $500 for new CPU mobo ram and gpu, I'm buying a console screw it..

People use so many abbreviations or acronyms especially in gaming that I didn't know it was a spelling error till I looked at the thread.

There are tons of cheaters, trust me. The lack of dedicated servers does blow, but the match making system isn't the worst I've seen either. The game is overall very enjoyable, I just wish they'd do something to address the rampant number of wall hacks and aim bots.

I still havent installed MW2 yet lol. I want to bad tho. I played it on the neighbors 360 and I did really good the whole time, the controls seemed so slow even with the sensitivity turned way up.

I keep hearing the cheaters are bad then they arent, I dont know what to do honestly. I wish they had punkbuster on there, this shit wouldnt happen if they did, I think i ran into a couple like 3 cheaters in cod4 in like 2 years of playing it.

I played mw2 on the 360 and came home and turned on cod4 MP and I wanted to start punching myself in the face since the graphics looked like crap compared to mw2. Especially crash, I played the new map pack with crash in mw2 on the 360 and came home immediately loaded up crash and almost cried, the difference was huge.

I did however today fix the neighbors pc, they needed sound drivers and was a super easy fix, he gave me a wired 360 controller for free for fixing the pc for him,

I sat on the couch plugged it in, win 7 dled the drivers immediately i turned on FO3 GOTY kicked back on the couch and played it for a good 2 hours and really enjoyed it.

Now that i have a controller what racing game should I pick up? the only reason I havent bought a racer is the m/kb controls suck so bad, now im ready to race. Dirt 2 will run like butt and I dont like it anyway so I guess im stuck with NFS shift or grid huh??

Stuck with? no. But they are 2 of the best circuit racing games atm, so if you're into that sort of thing then go for it. Xbox 360 controller should work great for them since at least you will get analog gas and brake control.
