Hi. I have an Abit IS7 v1.0 and after 8 months of operation, my northbridge fan keeps producing this "whine" that is very uncomforting. I am not sure if the fan is going to fail soon or not, but the noise that it produces is not pleasant to say the least. I was looking at some Zalman northbridge coolers, but I don't see how I can fit it on my chipset as they dont have the proper mounting "legs" uness I epoxy them. I found this cooler Thermaltake Tiger 1 $8 , it seems like it could do the job. Any suggestions on how I can fix the old fan from making this noise? or suggestions for a decent, not too expensive north bridge cooler?

Get a passive zalman heatsink for it. No need for the noise of the tiger.

it says the tiger is only 23db?? or is that overexaggerated?

Also if a get a passive cooler i'll have to buy epoxy to be able to glue it on, because i've been unable to find a northbridge cooler that has the proper mounting legs of the sort. My motherboard doesnt have the usual hole/spring setup.

My chipset cooler fan died recently. I found that it was the same size as a 486 cpu fan (40x40x10 mm). My heatsink had screws holding the fan on, so I just swapped in the new fan.
