the guy that is fixing it for me said he oculd get me a deal on a USED motherboard that would work on my computer, and he could get me a deal cuz he knows me and stuff. Now im wondering if its going to be worth it or if i should just buy a new laptop. Site like ibuypower.com and cyberpower.com and those sites have laptops for the 900s but i really wanted to go for a computer cheaper then that. im just not sure about the used motherboard. what u guys think?

hp has some deal for a notebook that was 700..

that was the computer i{"I"} was looking at. But i{"I"} am not sure. It prboboly will depend on what u{"you"} guys think and how much the used motherboard is...
Dell PC owners are always asking similar questions and are sad hearing the facts. Ninety percent of the time, only another Dell motherboard is going to work. Dell uses what are called "proprietary" parts in its PC designs, and other than drives, RAM, and video cards, standard "ATX" parts (like motherboards) simply don't fit.

The power supplies tend to be rewired in a non-standard manner, the backplane may be on a separate circuit board, and the connections from the motherboard to the front panel switches and LED's, other than the speaker, are non-standard.
