Need a new monitor

Hi guys,

I'm looking to upgrade from my 24" Benq G2410 monitor.

I'm looking for something in the 27" - 30" range (higher res: 2560 x 1440 or 2560 x 1600) and great for both gaming, general usage, and watching movies. Although I've been intrigued by 120 Hz panels, I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything--I play mostly single player but enjoy games like the AC series, Arkham, Borderlands, Crysis, etc.--so I'm not sure if it would be worth trading higher refresh rates for res and/or image reproduction. I also enjoy watching blu-rays and other videos and tend to write a lot on Word, so great fidelity is of importance.

With that said, one monitor a friend recommended is the LG 27EA83R:

I'm wondering if anyone else has any other recommendations or anything else to add to the mix? I should also note that I have a GTX 760 for gaming. Thanks and much appreciated.

I would recommend the dell U3014 or HP ZR30W if you want 30in, as for the 27in monitors, there are plenty of good ones to choose from, some even OC pretty well.

Keep in mind, pushing more than 60fps at 2560x1440 or higher is hard, you would need more GPU power for that or a 4k screen. You should be fine with 60Hz at 2560x1600 or less.

Yeah - monitor selections are commonly made in this forum. Agree with Jaydip.
