It's timet o trash my 1 ton viewsonic CRT. I just built a new rig and want a nice new Monitor to go with it. I'm looking for suggestions on 24"+ LCDs. I've looked at the guide and there are just few that are listed for hardcore gaming. I was originally thinking about the DoubleSight or Planar IPS, but lots of people said it would be a waste of money. I have no budget right now. I'm just looking for something that's good and will last.

thanks

I think this Acer would be a nice option.

Those monitors will not be a waste of money.

Wait for the replacement of the 263N and get that.

DoubleWhat? :p

Based on reviews, user reviews (mainly on HardOCP forums) and head-to-head comparisons (digitalversus/lesnumeriques), I'd definitely get:

- Benq V2400W (TN panel, 24", 5 ms (2 ms gtg as some sites list it), very good measured contrast, good colors, no input lag, pixel response comparable to the fastest 2 ms 22-inchers, good price, nice design)

or, if you can pay almost twice as much:

- LG W2600HP (H-IPS panel, 26", 5 ms gtg, good colors and contrast, perfect viewing angles, no real input lag, pixel response better than all PVA/MVA panels and comparable to fast TNs, decent price for an IPS, nice design) - try to get panel 805M or 806M, since it addressed banding and red overhue present on 803M/804M.

Thanks for the response. I'm obviously having a hard time figuring out what the best monitor is for my 26" size requirement. I was under the impression that the S-IPS were the best panels, but then people were saying that a fast TN is all i need. All I care about is fast gaming and something that will last. I'm not sure that viewing angle is all that importand since I will be the only one looking at it from just one angle. The only benefit would be if I ever use if for a TV later...which I doubt that I would.

any more suggestions?
