Hi, I got my new 2.53 c1 stepping chip, but the intel mobo i have wont let me oc it, asit has zero FSB options. I need a new mobo, one that is known to oc very well. Granite bay seems sort of eh right now because 1) It will be 200$ 2) I hear weird AGP issues??? 3) Its not out yet and no one knows f it will be in a week or a month, also ppl wont know if they oc well till they been around for 2 weeks or so, and i need a mobo soon.

So ideas? I know that many PE mobos have 166 fsb limit, but is it possible that id get higher than 166 (3.1 gigs) on my 2.53 c1? If so then thats out of the question, if not it seems a valid options. Id like something fairly cheap so i can get a canterwood when they come out around may...

Sis 648? It doesnt seem to oc well....
An older Intel chipset?

Any help is appreciated. If it matters here are my specs to be: Radeon 9700 PRO, 2x256 Corsair XMS 3200 C2, TB Santa Cruz, Enermax 431W, P4 2.53 C1

Also any ideas on a good heat sink / fan? I got the stock one now... Use it or get a beast :) I really dont mind noise unless its REALLY loud.

do you need the newer features?
abit it7max was a good board, along with asus p4b533

as for heatsink, alpha pal8942 or swiftech mcx4000 with a decent cfm fan (around 40cfm+ for me, i dont mind noise)

Newer features dont matter a great deal to me. Serial ATA is useless right now as is agp 8x. Dont need onboard video sound or gigabit ethernet (though base 100 would be nice)

Pragma, I just got the Albatron PX845PEV Pro from Newegg this week. Couple of things about this board... in the Motherboard forum there's a thread about "missing" memory ratios. I was testing a Celeron 2.0 in this board, plus an MSI 845E Max, and for pure POSTing the MSI board will POST at 160+ FSB (didn't go higher because the MSI board loses higher memory ratios above that) while the Albatron board with the same CPU and same stick of Samsung Original DDR333 won't POST above around 150MHz FSB. Now, the MSI board isn't stable at those speeds, but it's nice to see a 3.2GHz POST, eh :) Currently the Albatron board is running around 137MHz FSB with a P4 1.6A@2.19, the Samsung memory at around 377MHz, very stable and fast. Regardless of the potentially lower clock, the Albatron beats the MSI board in features, such as 6 channel sound (versus 2) and onboard 3Com NIC (versus none).

I don't have an "official" 533MHz FSB CPU to mess with. I've heard stories of 190MHz FSB on the Albatron board.

The MSI board does win big on one thing... I bought it at Fry's Electronics for $99 WITH that Celeron 2.0 CPU (San Diego store). Can't beat that deal.
