I'm not adverse to overclocking and am looking for the best value.

ps: I assume I need a new mobo. The cpu fan stopped working. Same problem when I put in another cpu so the problem is with the mobo. Is there a work around for this, ie hook the cpu fan to the power supply?

You just need a new Fan or the Fan Header on the MoBo went bad whuch can be corrected by getting an adapter to the PSU plug if the MoBo Header is the Case

My IDE Zip drive isn't working either. Is it possible the problem is related?

Also, I'm running an Abit BH6 with a Celeron 633 @ 950 mHz so it's probably time for an upgrade anyway.

The Zip would be another issue unless the PSU powers both the Fan and Zip drive then that might be the problem in any Case I agree it's time for na upgrade so if $'s is an issue look @ the newer NForce2 MoBo's and the 1700XP and/or 2100...great OCers and you will need new RAM

DDR 3200 (X2 for Dual Channel )...and if you're planning to OC then get quality stuff (ieWinbond chips)...I would imagine the V3 will run fine cause I use the V5500 as a 2ndary Vid card and what type of PSU do you use?

I have an Antec server case (model 1080 I think).

It has a 430 watt PS.

This case should be okay with an AMD cpu, right?

AMD just lowered their prices, so they are definetly the way to go. 2400+'s are going for 80 bucks now. But that video card could probably use a little bit of upgrading eventually as well, and if you're a gamer, just keep that in mind before you blow a ton of cash on a mobo/memory/cpu.

But if it turns out your mobo is not going bad, it would be the powersupply in your case that's causing problems. Just an FYI.

Hooked up the cpu fan to the PS and everything is working fine. The zip drive is even working properly now. Don't know what the connection is.
