Need a new KVM

I have a Linksys 2 Port PS/2 KVM switch I bought on buy.com 2 years ago, I think it's dying, the indicator light for which PC it's using goes out or flashes, I lose keyboard and mouse repeatedly. Model PS2KVM2

I rerouted my logitech multimedia keyboard and corded optical mouse to the primary comp but didn't switch the video. Now the video is unstable, and when I push the button the video dims slightly and moves 1/8". No indicator light at all now.

I think it's dead. You guys agree?

Ok, then I need me a new one o them. My needs are slightly different than most KVM users.
I play an MMO, and I run my main comp/character and a second char as a bot box.
My keyboard and mouse are USB, but I've been using the PS2 adaptors
I don't really make much use of the multimedia capabilities of the logitech

I liked the existing unit because I could hit the button to switch with one hand while clicking commands on each character of the duo with the mouse. I'm not averse to hotkeys, but it would have to be pretty much 1 keypress, I need to be able to switch very very quickly from comp to comp. I'd like to have a manual switch available even if I do use hotkeys.

Many KVM units beep when you switch, I don't want that, I switch a lot, often 6 times in 30 seconds.
I don't need to switch audio or USB devices, I do all of those items through the primary comp.

I'm also cheap about this, I was contemplating the current 2 port jobby on buy.com from linksys, but it's pure hotkey. I'd prefer to stay under 50 bucks, as I'm not certain I'm going to stay with KVM long term

Thanks
KF
edit:
Took the KVM out of the loop entirely after I couldn't get video through it, everything works fine from the main box. So now I just need a new KVM, any recommends?

Bump for further input.

Also, what odds that the cabling is the problem and not the physical unit? I don't have spare cables to try swapping out.
