My good ol Powercolor 7970 I think has died.
It shows artifact from Bios Screen . When it goes GUi, it shows blank screen.
So I am in need of New GPU.
What would be a good replacement ? Brand (Life time warranty) and I like Top tier. I prefer Video card is blowing hot air hot; not re circulating in the box.
AMD is ok
Nvidia is Ok
It just has to be Dual Dvi though!

Thanks

Unless you're in a hurry, I'd wait for the RX 480 to release on June 29th. Even if you don't get one, they'll likely drop the prices of 390s/970s.

What's your monitor resolution, CPU and the types of games you play? GPU upgrade budget?

Well Dude
Right now Screen Res is 2560 X 1600 => which is going to 4k in near future.
Right now I have a craze about diablo 3. But I have known to play car racing games too, FPS games. I bought my 7970 when it was highest tier and paid $300s to NCIX at local.
Right now Built in 4290 HD is doing all the jobs except Video play and Games.
SO I can wait for little while.

390 is old now, 970 has weak dx12 performance and it's actually 3.5gb vram card other .5gb is very slow. and both costs above 250$ depending on where you live.

RX 480 is upcoming gpu which will be more efficient, above 390x in performance and cost 200$ for 4gb/ 230$ for 8gb. will have better dx12 performance, better tessellation and dx11 performance too.

so best option is to wait and see how rx480 performs, by that time 390/970 will also drop in price, so a win win situation here.

RX480 doesn't have a single DVI output. So another card or dongles.

GTX 1060 will support at least 1 DVI natively.

Rx480 reference doesn't have dvi, that doesn't mean AIB cards won't and early (unverified) leaks show dvi ports. If you want to go 4k though you'll need to spend considerably more than the $300 you spent on your last card.

source ?

oh ya, can't expect that from you.

why not just wait and watch ?

If you spend less time on your personal attacks you wouldn't have to ask.

How many DVI ports do you see? That's right, ZERO.

Since we're posting pictures, do you have a picture of a 1060 to show that it does?

Didn't think so, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that some 1060 certainly will, just like some 480 is going to even if it isn't the reference version.

Can you please specify your actual CPU and its clock speeds? This is a big deal because as far as I am aware, HD4290 was a built-in GPU on the completely outdated AMD 890GX (790GX) chipset. If so, you will need a entire CPU platform upgrade.

Assuming you do not have an outdated Phenom II/FX6000-9000 series, then:

--------------------------------------

For Diablo 3, you do not need anything faster than an HD7970 for 1440p/1600p.

For 4K, for Diablo 3, R9 290X/970 and therefore RX 480 will be more than enough as well.

You have to get really specific about what racing and FPS games you intend to play at 4K.

Generally speaking, GTX1070 is not fast enough for 4K for modern AAA games no matter what some people on here try to push. For instance, if you play a lot of Project CARS and intend to game on 4K, you'll really want at least a GTX1070 OC for that title.

For Need for Speed on highest settings, GTX1070 SLI no less.

1070 clearly not fast enough for 4K beyond low/medium settings. At High/ultra it falls apart completely.

1080 isn't even fast enough to get 60 fps averages.

If you actually intend to keep these cards for 4K to play the latest AAA games over the next for 2-3 years, you really would need GTX1070/1080 SLI. Of course all of this assumes you have a CPU at least i7 3770K @ 4.5Ghz class level or i7 2600K @ 4.8Ghz. Another alternative is you get a GTX1070 card that lets you play the most demanding games at 1080p 60Hz and if you have enough GPU horsepower, you could use 4K on the 4K monitor. Of course all of this assumes you have a modern solid CPU.

Otherwise, 1440P 60-144Hz is the sweet-spot for GTX1070/1080 cards at the moment.

I think a 400$ 1070 is your best option.

Not if the OP has an outdated old generation i3/FX series CPU it isn't.

AIB Fury cards had DVI ports, despite the "reference" being without DVI ports. I wouldn't be surprised to see AIB RX 480s with DVI ports given the mainstream pricing.

Plan has change a bit.
Gpu from PH II is died which was powerplay (mistaken on a brand name) 7970.
That MB has IGP 4290.
I am going to take out my XFX 7970 GPU from i5 3570k and move it to AMD case.
So Technically I am looking Gpu for i53570k.
What I learned about RX 480; sound like a no brainer to wiat and pick that card.

Ok, that makes total sense. I was confused why you wanted a high-end card for a Phenom system. You don't have much to lose as we'll see benchmarks of RX 480 cards this month and by then there should be more GTX1070 AIB cards such as MSI Gaming X. Right now, it's only EVGA and the overpriced $450 FE cards.
