Need a new dentist, stat. How to find one that's not a hack?

I really liked my old dentist but my new plan isn't applicable to him. I was wondering if anyone had advice on tracking one down that doesn't treat you like a number, aside from personal referrals. I don't quite trust those 1-800 dentist type sites... 🙂

Call your insurance company and ask them for the name of the most expensive office in your area.

Or just go to a wealthy suburb and check out offices around there. Rich people aren't fans of pain, and a crappy dentist won't survive in the area.

Ask the receptionist/dentist at your current office.. He might have a collegue that takes your coverage and might be able to refer you.

Went to try to go to my regular dentist but he was out of town so I went to his emergency referral. That place was straight out of star trek I tell you- complete amazing. I stuck my head in this machine that did a lap around my head and wham-o she had a 3D image on the computer of all my teeth and dental work. She clicked a button then lead me back to the chair where an LCD arm pivots around your feet showing the digital xray then it's highlighted by the doctor, who has a duplicate LCD and mouse/pen behind me.

He didn't do much but give me some vicodin til I can get to an oral surgeon on monday but I was really impressed! 🙂

Heh, ironically, my dentist is in one of the poorest areas of town, but she does a good job with no pain. :Q
