After 8 years my old cordless Panasonic 2.4 gigahertz phone is feeling ill. The buttons are not responding when pushed. Any ideas on a new phone? I would like a 5.8 gigahertz cordless but what else after that?

do they have volume control for ringer/buttons yet. i need a new cordless too but i hate that i cant control the volume on the handset. Trying to call some one at night and hear this loud ass BEEP is anoying when dialing. Also a volume control for the ringer on the handset will work wonders too

motorola has one that you can hook a cell phone up to via bluetooth. that way you could use your regular cordless handset to answer any cell calls along with land line calls.

I like that but the wife would say "Do we really need that?" I already showed her the Panasonic where you can put the picture in the phone for a caller ID picture. (Panansonic) That idea lasted as long as a fart in a windstorm.

Do you have this phone? Help me convince the wife we need this or she just left for work, I could just run out and buy it. ;)

No, I was hoping you'd buy it and report back on if it works good or not. That way I could get my wife to let me get it. :p

Panasonic are still the best, but I think they've taken that and overpriced their phones a bit. I'm also looking for a new one simply because my 6 year old uniden (2.4ghz) is screwing up my wireless router connection.

I'm looking at another uniden with 2 handsets in the $70-$100 range. They have one that's much cheaper but it's gotten terrible reviews.

FWIW, I've been researching this for about 3 weeks now.

Highly recommend Panasonic. There's gonna be all kinds of little benefits to a quality phone that you can't even anticipate. Also, look for the expandable models because you can add handsets anywhere in house even if you have no phone line so long as there is a power outlet. Very handy. We got the shock and splash resistent ones and they've taken a few drops from our toddlers.

Between Amazon and Costco, you should be able to find a decently priced phone. Unless you want to spend as little as possible, in which case it's going to be a Uniden.

Well I just bought one from Circuit City PAN KXTG5632M Panasonic Cordless Phone (KXTG5632M) . On sale $83.99 plus tax. I would look online for one cheaper but between BB CC CU and all the rest CC was the cheapest and I need one today. My old Panasonic barely even works. :(
