Doesnt have to be top of the line, just something better than the old pentium 200 with 64 megs of ram. Thinking KT133A chipset, Duron, something with onboard sound/video. Any help or ideas?

quickly....

mobo-$70
cpu- $30 (AMD 700)
HardDrive- $80
RAM- SDRAM 128MB $20
Video- $60
Case/PowerSupply (assuming your P200 is not ATX)- $60

reuse-
Monitor, mouse, keyboard, ethernet, CD-ROM, floppy - free

those are some cheap prices to shoot for... I can't think of any exact models off hand. You can find some good prices at NewEgg.com.

Yes it's quite possible, here's one option.

Refurb Celeron 633 for $217

This is an impressive 633MHz Celeron system with all the bells and whistles that all customers want and need!12X DVD-ROM Drive, 15GB IDE Hard Drive, 64MB of RAM, Speakers, Modem and More! They are from a major manufacturer with the nameplate conveniently removed. The mini-tower case has a microATX motherboard with the Intel 810 chipset, two DIMM slots, 3 PCI slots (one used), and an open 5.25'' Drive External Drive Bay. We are classifying these are refurbished, however nothing was ever repaired on these because nothing was ever wrong. It is simply a handy classification for a system that was sold, then immediately returned under some absurd unlimited return policy, tested and then promptly trucked down to our warehouse. All of these appear to be in 'as brand new' condition. Listen and you will hear these systems crying out 'Just add a monitor & Windows and sell me right out the door!'. Did you hear that? GET YOURS TODAY!

Carbonyl, you forgot a CD-ROM and cooling for the CPU. Plus the all important shipping and handling. That model ECS is perpetually out of stock so I am not holding my breath.

No need for cdrom since he can ue his old one. Still the best value for around $300 price/performance and later he can upgrade to a 1.4+ghz for a completly new system

Adul,

Those look similar to the 50 systems I just put together. Glad someone is actually realistic with items needed (CD-ROM, cooling, communications) and bought speced from a reputable company. None of that ripoffs from Pricewatch.
Good job.

DFI is a fairly solid MB maker with no frills. ECS is a different story. (though that sis mb of theirs is actually good)

I would go the route Carbonyl suggested.
