I work from home 3 days a week and my old leather chair (~6 years old) has had it. Time to upgrade to something more comfortable and adjustable.

Any recs?

Would prefer to spend less than $250 if possible.

I'm planning on making one soon myself. Old van/RV captains chair, office chair wheels/bracket/gas cylinder attached to bottom, car heated seat/cooler element = win.

Used office furniture stores are great. We picked up a pair of Steelcase chairs for 1/10 new and they are in near new condition.

Also, if you want dirt cheap chairs and don't mind living on the edge then look for used rolling chairs with four legs sticking out from the base. Some safety nazi somewhere declared them dangerous so companies across America had to dump them and buy new five legged chairs. Furniture stores price them accordingly.

Come to NJ and I'll hook you up. Our home office has way too many.

I've been a mod for 2-3 years now, and WTF are you talking about? I think you have the wrong person :)

OP, I would take the previous advice and test sit the chairs in Staples, Office Depot, ... etc. Some look comfy in pics and in person until you sit in them. If you are going to be sitting in them for long periods you want to be sure you have one you won't hate.

This works well for me. I got my current Steelcase less than a year ago for $120. Quality chair.
