I've been thinking about getting a new cell phone. What's the general consensus on the best cell phone available in the U.S.?

What will you use it for? Calls only? Email / text / picture messaging? What's your budget?

I personally would go with the Motorola A630, but it suits my needs well.

I was, until I read about the phonebook format in that thing! Why would Motorola hamstring such a beautiful phone?? Idiots!

for looks: motorola Razr
for email/IM: blackberry
for certain features: just see what features you need, most phones have almost all the good features these days.
for oldschool feel: nokia candy bar phone, i.e, 8890, 8860, 8290

I think i'm going to get the V3 as my next phone. My current tmobile contract is up in jan. i just happened to walk by the shop that i got my current samsung from and they had a poster of the v3 with a price of $150!! so i walked inside and asked them if its only good for cingular, the lady told me they can sell it for tmobile too!

It's a cell phone for my job, so my employer would be footing the bill. In other words, no budget, just whatever I "need". I'm also stuck with Cingular as the provider, but I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing.

Is the BT hamstrung at all? Can you transfer files and such with it easily? You play AAC/MP3s on it at all either? Looks like a nice phone!

After the quality problems ive had with Motorola phones and crappy sound im going with a Samsung phone next time. 3 of my friends have them and they are a much better phone. The sound quality over it is literally twice as good as the Motorola's have been for me.

If you go to intelenetwireless.com the Nokia 6230 is free after MIR. I just placed my order today. You only have to sign for 12 months instead of 24.

Edit: The provider is Cingular.

The intelenetwireless.com rebates are kinda shady, you have to wait 150 days and there are two.

Amazon.com's are more reliable
