So, I'm making the switch to PCIe thanks to TechTour2005. I have an old ATI 9800PRO 128 and I need to get something that is at least as good, but not too expensive for PCIe.

I'm thinking about this. It's $185 shipped, but I'm looking to see if this is the right direction.

thanks

The 6600GT is the best sub $200 PCI-E card out there and would be a worthy card, but it really isn't that much of an improvement over the 9800Pro. Why are you spending the money to switch to PCI-E when there are a number of AGP cards that out perform what you are looking at buying? Your money could be better spent by sticking with AGP and upgrading the 9800 Pro to a 6800GT or X800XL, since it seems that budget is a primary concern.

Get one from the forums here and save yourself a ton of money. Most people are ditching theirs for 6800's and 7800's. Well, at least i am :)
