Soon be be 8g ram
23" monitor

Would like to get a new card as this will not handle max settings in Diablo3. D3 and Wow are the only games that are ran on this comp and it will be replaced in a year or two. Looking for something to max it out but not go overboard.

Thanks

What resolution do you play at ?

Are you in the beta to know your current card won't max the game ? The game is not all that graphically demanding as all Blizz games are not. There was some argument SC2 was, but that is only if force AA via your drivers.

Bliizzard is using a post-AA mode in D3 that costs nothing performance wise. If you do want an upgrade from your 9800GT just for wow and D3, you don't need to go crazy. 6850/6870/460 would do it.

Yes I am in beta and when maxed during a fight it is pretty bad. I am assuming its the video card.

A gtx 460 1 gb sells for 130-140 and would be more than enough for d2 or WoW at 23", and you get the benefit of ambient occlusion in D3 with Nvidia drivers.

That's really the cheapest card that should have no problems with either game. If you want to spend more you can get a 6870 for 160, which is a little faster than the 460.

If you want to spend a little more, you can get a 560 ti for 220, its a little faster than a 6870, nothing huge,

If you wanna spend a lot more you can get a gtx 680 for 500-530 but they are out of stock most of the time. Lot more money but wont have any issues with either game if you upgrade to multiple monitors etc.

I've been in beta since September and I know that my 5870 had zero problems at 1920x1200, and that is only a bit faster than a 460. The 6870 is pretty close to the 5870 and the 560 ti is faster. Since you are at 1680x1050, anything more than a gtx 460 is probably throwing money down the drain to be perfectly honest.

What tidusz said

If d3 performs similar to sc2 460 should do it. Ive played sc2 on max @ 1920 x 1080

I have to concur with Shadow, the GTX 460 should be more than enough at the resolution you want. I have the GTX 460 as well and can run the beta at max settings as well. A great card for the money still.

$115 after rebate is a great price for a card that will Max out D3 and WoW for you.

I would get this

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...651&CatId=3669

You can turn on something called AO in the drivers with nvidia and it makes D3 look better, if you like the idea of giving the game a darker look. This card is basically twice as fast as what you have now.

Maybe overclock your CPU some as well. Blizzard games are pretty CPU dependent. I'm surprised to hear you have that much of a slowdown. I've tried the beta on all my computers, one is pretty close to what you have, the video card is an 8800gts512mb/q6600 cpu and it played pretty well. So if you're not overclocking your CPU, maybe it give it a little overclock.
