Need a new car

I was thinking that maybe instead of buying a new 2008 i should buy a CPO by the end of december and hopefully i'll be able to get a good deal. I've had several dealerships contact me and the best price i've received for a new 2008 with the following options:

Monaco Blue
Premium pkg
Auto
Ipod adapter
xenon lights
for $35580 excl tax, license etc

I figure if I get a CPO I could get it for much less. What price do you guys think would be good for a CPO? Also if I get one w/o many options is it a good idea to get aftermarket xenon lights put in?

TIA

BTW I should mention in live in los angeles if that makes a difference

The only reason I dont want to lease is because I plan on keeping the car for a while and also I don't have to commute to work. But I do need a car in LA so I dont' think i'll be putting on that many miles a year.

I think, if you choose from CPO, I almost guarantee you that you will get it for under $ 25k + better warranty (2 more years).

My 2006 325i with your option + sports package (which is another 2k option), so MSRP was about $ 39k or $ 40k OTD (after nego + TTL) if I bought new one. The car at the time of purchase was one year old with only 7k miles, and I got it for $ 28.5k. I didn't have much room to negotiate as I had a trade-in.

Anyway, based on my past experience + current car market, I am pretty sure you can get the car with the same option you want & 10k or less miles for below 25k. Possibly, well below.

Thanks everydae. I'll keep that in mind when I negotiate a price. I'm thinking about going there on Dec. 30th so they'll be eager to get rid of their inventory

How much more performance do you get between a 325 and a 328? I'd go f0ck it and get an e46 M3 😛

I see few 07 335i with under 15K miles for $29K around Chicagoland, so look around, the deals are out there.

Why not buy used from an individual? You can take it to the dealership and pay them a few hundred to run the same checks that they do when making something "certified".

The advantage to buying from a person: you can get reciepts for maintenance, you can decide if the person seems responsible & kept the car in good condition, and you are actually more likely to learn about anything wrong with the car. Example: A salesperson probably wont know that the car had a new transmission put in, the seller would know, and might tell you. IMO, I'd trust a guy off the street (and my ability to "read" him) than a salesperson every day of the week. A most important of course, you should be able to save thousands.

It is a bit more work to find the car you want, but I think well worth the money you save.

NAC if I were to buy it from private party, would I be able to get extended warranty through the dealership once it's "certfied". Should I even bother with the extended warranty?
