Need a new camera. Which one?

I am wanting a new camera. It has to be digital. It has to be able to take 20+ pictures at a rate of 2-3 per sec. Manual focas a must.

I am wanting to get into a little better quality of pictures from my camera. Right now I am using a Kodac DX6490. It is a good camera but won't do the series or have manual focus.

Any suggestions that won't break the bank?
 
Why a buffer of 20+ at 2-3fps? What do you need that for?

The Canon 350D and Nikon D70 are the only 'cheap' DSLRs that can do about 2fps for 20 pictures.
 
I like to do sport shots of the kids. Races, boating, and other action shots. You can miss alot if you have to wait on the camera.

I don't want to spend 1500-2500 for a new one that would do the job. I am just starting out in digital photography but know I want a good camera.
 
Okay, now my assistance is in my sig for these kinds of posts.

I did a bunch of research first before I got a camera for my wife and I, even though we weren't spending a lot.

Got the Fuji Finepix A205 a year ago for $84.95, which has turned out to be an excellent purchase. Will get something better someday when the budget allows it.
 
LOL psiu, good thinking! It seems like more people are getting into digital cameras lately. 🙂

kater, I'm just assume that your price range is under $1500 then? Then my recommendations are still the Canon 350D and the Nikon 70D. Both are under $1500. You can use psiu's links to learn more about those cameras or about photography.

they both do 3FPS fo that actually

and the D70 with a Ultra 2 or faster CF card will do 3 FPS till the card is full


but anyway your gonna need a DSLR of somekind the cheapest 2 are the D70 and the 350D
