I just got the GT i-drive 3.0 new for $450 shipped (see other thread). My girlfriend also wants a mountain bike. I am going to keep the budget under $200.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Right now I can get the GT Palmor (I think this is the 2003 version of 2004 Avalanche 3.0) for about $140 new shipped.
OR I can get the GT Timberline Comfort Bike for the same price.
Which one would be better for someone just starting out?
Is there any other choices I can get for under $200 that is better?
Thanks!
Oh, how could I forgot?

I got a last-year's model Gary Fisher Gitchee Gumee (it was a 1998 model, I got it in early 1999) for $250 at my local bike shop. It doesn't have shocks or any fancy stuff, but it's reliable as hell and built like a tank. See if you can get a new-but-old-model bike for cheap at your local bike store.

Indeed.

Got any pics of your bike?

I smoked $1.1k on my bike 2 years ago. Best investment for me. Fast and reliable. Sure as hell beats walking! Parking is a mofo and costs a lot of money for a whole day!

Nope, I just got owned by performancebike.com

Here is part of the email I am sending to them:

I just emailed them, here is a copy of the email:

I placed an order for the GT i-drive 3.0 Large size mountain bike on Saturday with the 2-days shipping option.

However, it still has not received today, so I contacted the customer service center by phone to check on the stats.

I have been checking the website repeatedly prior to calling, because I am seriously considering ordering another i-drive size small for a family member. At the time I checked, the large size was still available on the website.
The customer service person checked my order and told me that she JUST checked the website and it only shows small size i-drive 3.0 available, so therefore she can not fill my order.

I am tried to explain to her that I did not place my order today but on last Saturday, and through out the weekend and most of Monday the website showed large in stock. I also received a conformation email about my order.

However, she continuing to tell me that the website said it was out of stock.

At this point, I still have not gotten any cancellation notice from you.
Is it your normal business practice to fill out orders without the abilities to check inventory first? The reason I choose to order with your company is due to the glowing reviews on www.mtbreview.com. I am extremely dissatisfied with this situation.

Since I have received a conformation notice, I believe the fairest thing for you to do is to fill my order. If that?s not possible due to an inventory error on your behalf, I then believe the right thing to do is offer me some kind of replacement order.
