Our dat drive (12/24gb dds) is basically dead. It's time for a new backup drive. However, I find that they are much more difficult to come by than they used to be. I was wondering if people had any recommendations on a drive and reliable place to purchase from for a small business.

I was also looking at online backups and they seem like an attractive option. Anyone have experience with them? Seems like IBackup has the highest marks from random PC magazines.

So far as I can tell, a decent external SCSI drive is going to cost about $600-$700, which is about the same as 2 years of IBackup service.

Pah...

Settle down forum nazis. I couldn't figure out which forum it would go in.

Which forum should it go in? Can't be general hardware since it also involve software. Can't be software since it involves hardware. You nazis would say wrong forum no matter where I put it.

Try a DVD writer. They're not that expensive and blank DVDs are getting rather inexpensive these days and can hold a fair amount of data.

indeed, I wouldn't go with an online backup simply because your upload pipe would have to be MASSIVE to get a good backup (either that or you don't have much data, in which case the DVD burner would still be better)

cliff notes, DVD burner if you don't have too much data to back up, if not get another tape drive
