Hey guys, my trusty Jansport bag is finally at the end of its life. It has served me well for nearly a decade, so I think it's time to buy something new. I don't need anything fancy, but I'd like a bag that will be durable and last a long time. While I'll use to for hiking, it will primarily function as a bag to carry stuff to / from work, including clothes for the gym, lunch, ipod, stuff like that. I don't care (or particularly like) hundreds of pockets.

I've been poking around REI and EMS and I've found a few bags that I'm going to check out in person this week, but I'm looking for recommendations. I really don't want to spend more than $100.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'd get a military surplus pack. They're cheap, functional, and built for durability.

I don't see why you should switch brands, the Jansport lasted you almost a decade - give Jansport another whirl.

I've got a swiss army backpack that i picked up at target. It's got a cushioned, velcro slot for my laptop as well.
