something off the shelf, under $300 if possible, will be used for a small office for file-server type needs. RAID would be nice.
 
I have that model at work, holding our tertiary daily snap shots. Copying to it is piss ass slow.

I have about 300gb going to a HA server and the buffalo nas. It takes about 2 hours to do a full sync on the HA server but over 18 hours on the buffalo.
