I'm looking into working on a project that would require a tool to measure and display the peak voltage, current, or resistance in a circuit. The reason why I'm interested in peak values is because this circuit will only be engaged for roughly 100 ms at a time. That's too fast for my nerdy eyes to see and react to with a traditional multimeter ;)

Any recommendations?

I would ordinarily say just use a Fluke with a MAX/MIN/AVE button... but 100ms? My 112 only displays 4 samples/sec so that's probably out.

Can you get a cheap digital scope?

Some signals may be even shorter... like 50 ms.

Bobsmith, do you have any experience with Picoscope? Which model would you recommend?

I used one a little but it was an older model. The software was a bit finicky but it did the job just like any oscilloscope.

I'd go with your budget; the cheapest one (the one I linked) will work for your application; it just won't do you any good if you have any high-speed data in the future, that is, anything much over 1MHz.
