The troll part of me wants to agree with this statement.

The honest part of me wants to say if you like Samurai flicks, watch 13 Assassins. :)

13 Assassins was fun.

The 2 Detective Dee movies are pretty good Chinese wire-fu murder mysteries.

Another important question: How can people enjoy Pacific Rim? that has been on recently, quite a bit....and my god is it terrible.

You have to like Godzilla movies and giant robot anime or live action.

I loved the live action "Voyage Into Space" movie as a kid (giant robo / Johnny Socko).

It's like the Speed Racer movie: if you didn't watch the anime as a kid you won't get why the movie is awesome not terrible.

The acting was questionable, the premise of underwater monsters was strange, and the back story generic, but for a mindless action flick, it wasn't bad. How exactly would YOU make a movie about giant robots up to your standards? Do tell.

Well, the first thing I would do, would be to have them fight with their gun/ranged weapons before they even got near a monster, instead of wading in like a metal Chuck Norris.

Or how about that big ass sword? I don't remember the movie perfectly, but once they were battling and were almost destroyed and THEN at the last moment, they remembered the big ass sword.

I don't know about tank divisions in the US Army (was communications), but I'm pretty sure they don't go on a bumper tank spree and only use their cannon when they remember it.

These two things alone ruined the movie for someone that can usually suspend a lot of disbelief.

Totally with you. Endured it last week and I was amazed at how dull the movie ended up being considering the director and the subject matter.

Not true, I love Godzilla but would rather get my a$$ snapped in a bear trap than watch giant robot anime or live action.

Still enjoyed Pacific Rim for what it was and didn't look too deeply for the plot holes.

I'm waiting to see what the new Godzilla is going to be like, they've crapped on him enough in the last decades.

It must be an "It's not easy being Green thing, they crapped on Hulk too for a long time till "The Avengers".

The Original Godzilla was great, but it was also a message movie. Everything after that was just mindless dumbassery. I cant' say I've enjoyed any giant robot film--building-sized invincible things endlessly bashing each other into submission produces zero tension. :\

and as James said--that scene where the robot (well, the pilot) only waits until it is being pulled into high orbit and near, uh...shutdown...that it decides to pull out its big ass sword and use it. what the holy fuck is that?
