I've decided to to the Athlon route and possibly try to OC if I feel brave enough. I saw this cool deal on newegg where they are selling a XP1600+ 1.4 Ghz for $54.99. Would I be able to OC this to somewhere near a 1.6-1.8 Ghz? Or should I just save myself the trouble and get a XP2000 1.67 Ghz and keep it as it, or OC that? I know someone will say, "it basically boils down to what you want to spend," but I want to get the most for my money's worth. Whether it means getting a XP2000 or a XP1600 and OC'ing it.

Also, I did a search on these forums for the ASUS A7V333 and found that it has some trouble posting with the XP. Has there been a fix found? What I like about the A7V333 is that the mobo fan is not a fan, but a heatsink. I want to keep my computer noise level down as much as possible. If the A7V333 seems to have a lot of problems, then I'd like to go with another board. does anyone have any recommendations? I've also thought of the Soyo Dragon KT333 (It's cheap :))

Go with the 1600+. They are known to do 1.75 Ghz without any voltage increase to the core at 166FSB. Would be best to get PC2700 to go with it because it was made for 166FSB. There has been alot of ppl that can get their PC2100 to 166FSB and up. But IMO overclock as little components in your setup as possible thats why I say get the PC2700.

I am getting a 1600+ and a used Epox 8k3a+ raid. I am hopeing to get 166FSB out of my PC2100 untill I can at least get the extra cash to buy PC2700. I havent heard of the Asus A7V333 having problems with XP? I was gonna go with a A7V333 but the dude who had it never did reply back. I would go with Epox or the Asus.

Thanks for your advice ^Sniper^. I just checked newegg and noticed that they had 64x64 DDR RAM and 62x72. What is the difference between those two?

AND, if someone can tell me how to OC a 1600+, that'd be cool too :)

Well, I got my AMD AthlonXP 1600+ unlocked and OCed to 2200+ with voltage bump to 1.80V (12.5 multiplier + 144MHz FSB = 1.8GHz). Not sure about the A7V333 mobo.
