I have some Crucial 512 ECC DDR RAM that I'd like to use but I need a MB that will take it. I currently have an old MSI 6380 (K7T266PRO) which works fine with them. How can you find out if a MB accepts ECC memory before you buy it?

Oh yeah - and this is for a spare system , so I'm looking for a lower cost Athlon board that takes ECC memory...

I tried the stick in my Asus A7N266-VM and it didn't work. It didn't work in an ECS K7S5A either. The description of the Asus A7N266-VM AA on NewEgg says that it takes non-ECC memory. So is it safe to assume that if it doesn't say non-ECC memory that it will accept ECC?

I think your problem was trying it on a nForce board. I know VIA chipsets support ECC ram, even if it doe snot use it it will usually run it fine.

dude, the K7S5A is a SiS chipset board, not nVidia. agreed, nVidia is generally picky about its RAM, so i would try it with a Via-based board (but watch out for version 4.5 of the 4-in-1 driver, it is a killer)
