I need a cheap mobo.
Reqirements.
mATX format
SocketA (mabe one that would take XPs)
SD Ram
3PCI
Major manf. like asus/abit/soyo....etc.
no PCchips type mobos

Would be nice if it had
Sound
AGP

I have about 40 bux to work with.
Or if you know of a database that I could quickly browse through to get this info.
I dont need the actual store that sells one, just the models.

This is for a friend who had a old 300Mhz HP system, and I would like not to replace the case so we need some mATX board.
thanks

How about the Asus A7S266-VM? No AGP port, but hey. Or maybe look at KM266 boards at Newegg, there are some that take PC133 SDRAM and have AGP slots.

Your best bet is to look at KM266 boards. Some will take Sdram or DDR. They go for about $50

Asus A7N8X-VM has a big passive heatsink, check that one out. :)

Looks nice. Any idea about the Shuttle mATX nForce2 board with MCP-T, and dual VGA ports? Looks really sweet.

The MN31N is a good board, I've built a couple using 1700+'s and set the FSB to 166 *no other overclocking features* to run synch with the 2700DDR and they proved to be good, reliable, and fairly fast littltle setups. They didn't include the S/PDIF or IEEE 1394 brackets though. Also, the one strange thing was after transporting one of the systems to set it up for my mom-in-law, it refused to boot to desktop and kept giving a black screen though safe mode was fine. The fix was to reinstall the detonators, but why that was necessary I can't say, and it's working buttery smooth ever since.

I also used it twinview with dual monitors in 2D mode for a brief period and it looked fine@1024x768x32 so that's a nice feature though s-video out might suit many better.
