Need a little job advice for my husband.

Well he just recently started a seasonal job. It pays roughly 8.20 an hour. Better then your average job. But let me put it to you this way. It's the same thing as working at McDonald's except my husband is getting paid a little bit more. He's complaining recently telling me that he hates it and that he doesn't want to go back. But he has to because this is our income that he's bringing in. He can apply and hopefully get hired at other retail stores such as Best Buy, Comp USA, Circuit City and the like. The job he holds now is just a upgraded pay version of McDonalds. What should I tell him? I'm 24, and he's 25. I'm sure all of you are probably thinking what the hell is he doing working at an job like mcdonalds at age 25. He's been helped by his family a lot. That's all I can say. He's held previously two jobs and the reasons why he quit each job was never because he gave up. They were either for other employment or something else. Please let me know what I should tell him? Should he look for another job that fits his needs? I know we can't always have what we want, but if the other job oppurtunity is there, should I tell him to do it? Or should he just stay at his job currently because the economy is already bad as it is.

Please help me and give advice, thank you with all my heart.

Ms. Superb

He can always apply to other jobs, and if he gets a accepted at a better one THEN quit the job he hates.

What kind of education does he have BTW?

there is no harm looking out for better oppurtunity..

if you can find one at these times.. great.. if not you got something to hold back on. Ask him to wade it out for a while.. just for you..
that should do the trick.

Dont quit then go looking, thats a bad habit to get into, and if he does change make sure it is a BETTER job, not just a DIFFERENT job.

I'm guessing from the other places he could work, he's a bit of a tech head. Tell him that, more than the job itself, it's the people he works with and the environment. One of my managers is a real pain and when she decides to visit PC operations, things quickly degrade into rush rush, look busy, and make the job seem as miserable as possible. When she's not, things are nice, relaxed, and more work actually gets done.

if he has any technical knowledge...he should apply elsewhere...even though the job market doesn't look too bright...there are still many positions to be filled with much better pay and especially if you're married. IMHO. I don't think 8 dollars and change will support a marriage...i might depend on where you live...but i don't think its much of a life in LA. But the decision is entirely his...but if i totally hated my job...i would definitely quit...even if its taking a lower paying job. just my $.0002

He ought to keep the job he has until he gets a better one. Nothing motivates you more to get out there and find a better job than having one you really hate.

Don't quit first, then go looking.

granted, i've only had a few jobs in my life, so i have limited experience, but i think that the most important thing is to get work experience in the field he's interested in. even if it means less pay... and stuff, i think it's more valuable to have a job that looks good on a resume. just my thoughts and experiences...

Well, i see several things here.. #1, Job hopping will def get you overlooked in the hiring process if two people have the same qualifications. I have been in Jobs before where i hated it, but stuck with it for some time jsut to make sure my resume duznt get all wacked out. #2 What is to say he would like the next job if he hasnt liked the past 32 and the present one? #3 And asked before, what kinda background and educatoin does he have?

HE def prob needs to stick this out until he finds something else, but take into consideration the consequences of job hopping. Min rule around here is to at least stick it out for a year. At least at that point in time, if another interview comes up, u can explain during that time the reason for the job hopping.

I can say move to Alaska. Here in Nome a stock boy gets paid $8.50-13.5/hr. DOE. Just look at the limited jobs here in Nome at the job site. Follow the drag down to Nothern Alaska in the search feilds and you will know what I am talking about 😉.

Now getting more serious. From a guy, ease down on him. I went from the slump of my life after having my two kids and unemployeed to owning my own business. Sooner or later one of four things will happen. He will either change and start getting something that can bring in at least $1700+/mo after taxes or he will find a lower paying job that he is happy with and stick with it. Or he will find a high paying job that he is happy with. The pits is he might do like me and live off the woman for a period of time. Mine was ¾ of a year then I could not handle it now more. However I seen both worse and better.

The real question is what do you want to do with him?
