Question Need a little help picking out a fairly basic monitor...

I don't do much gaming on the PC anyone, but will fire up some older titles once in a while. My PC itself isn't all that great (i5 6600K OC'ed to 4,7ghz, GTX 960, 16GB RAM) I have an old HP Pavilion 23xi monitor that I'm looking to replace (or demote to 2nd monitor I guess) and I'm debating between getting a 27" or a 24". Is 27" worth it if it's still 1980x1080? Or should it only be considered when going to 1440p? Do I really need to worry about refresh rate? Gsync or active sync or any of that jazz? Or should I just get a simple "business" monitor and I'd be fine with it. I'm trying my best to keep price down as low as possible too, unless 1440 is "needed" or something like that. If it's cheap enough I might even just get two new monitors and be set "for life"

I'm old (46) don't play twitch games anymore and as mentioned earlier, hardly any games at all anymore. My eyesight is going (too fast too).

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I might plug in my PS4 once in awhile to take advantage of a lower response time - it apparently helps quite a bit in the one game I play A TON (MLB The Show)

Would something like this suffice?
