Need a little help here guys

I am going to buy a new computer and need some mad help on which chip to get.
I was thinking about the AMD 1k, this however is the non thunderbird version.
How much better is the Thunderbird?
Or should I get a P3 933?
Also what is the 815E chip set, and how is it different?
I do not plan on over clocking the chip.
The other question is that I hear that AMD's are really bad if they are on a network, is this true?
I would get the Hercules 3D Prophet II MX, 32MB how good is this video card?

Let me know which you would choose and why.

I would go with the T-bird because its L2 cache runs at the same speed as the cpu.
I would not go with the PIII the AMD is better bang for the buck
AMD are not bad on a network that is not true
The mx video cards or ok but if you get a Gig cpu I would get a G-force 2 gtx
Also I would get a Abit KT7 or Microstar board they are very overclocker friendly

AMD chips bad on a network? Any proof of that? Some of Anandtech's servers are AMD based. Read some articles at Anandtech.com and make an informed decision. Personally between an AMD 1 gig T-bird or Duron and an Intel PIII 933 I would go with what you feel comfortable with. Performance wise you wont see that much of a difference in most apps.

AMD chips are great for the money. They are a tad pickier about cooling, but since you're not overclocking, the retail heatsink should work great.

They don't suck on a network. I don't think there is any difference between amd and intel chips on a network.

I would personally get a radeon 32mb DDR.

If they suck on a network they suck everywhere else cause that's common windows stuff.. AMD's are great CPU's i would definitly buy one for my next computer considering the high cost of Intel parts and the fact that AMD is actually faster clock for clock!
