:D Hello Everyone,

I just got done installing my K8v MB. And then added a 2nd HD to my unit, i made the Samsung SV6003H <ntfs>=Pri Master and the other WD800jb <ntfs>=Pri Slave. and with the cd that came with the harddrive Data lifeguard tools i made a mirrored copy of my frist HD. I see in the book that i have a dual sata raid and was wondering if i should use it since its there or keep both Hd's hooked up with the ribbon cable that i have now. Is it better to have the raid settup? also if i did want to use raid, the book shows the plugs on the mother board but it does'nt say where to hook up the other end of the cable's. if one wanted to try and hook it up. And i too had a hard time getting into bio's. i kept hitting the del key as stated in book, but it just kept loading into windows. it was only after i flashed the bio's with the program on cd that came with the MB was i able to get into bio's settings. And one more item, My computer will not read from the dvd cd rom now, from my computer screen it shows that the dvd cd rom is there but dont read from it? can anyone help me with these problems. O one more when i start my unit up it goes into ckup and says that (no HD connected to fasttrack controller bio's not loaded) does this mean my bio's isnt working? I would be most gratfull for any help on this subjects thanks....
P.S I got my Mb and cpu from newegg.com they are offering a extra year of warranty
for a low price which i think offers a good peace of mind.... :)

[*]Don't worry about the message from the Promise controller, it's fine :)
[*]The motherboard's two RAID controllers are primarily meant for use with Serial ATA drives, which use a different type of connector than your drives use. I would just go with your setup as-is for now.
[*]Check your Master/Slave settings on your two optical drives. Make sure they are not plugged into the IDE port called "PRI_RAID" (see page 2-2 of your manual, it's the horizontally-oriented one near the bottom-right of the board). Make sure the two optical drives aren't both set to Master, or both set to Slave, and if that's all fine already, try swapping their Master/Slave roles.
[*]If the DVD drive still won't work, try unhooking the CDRW from the ribbon cable and see if that changes anything... it might be a dud drive.

How did setup go for you? Did you get the retail-boxed CPU with the heatsink included? Was that pretty easy to install? I haven't worked with the latch-down type (yet), curious to hear your impressions.

Thanks and yes it went very well for me, but i took a while doing it, i kept rereading before doing it couse i never done this before so i was going very slow to make sure i didnt burn my MB up or cpu as i spent a lot on the pair. also yes i got both from newegg and yes cpu came with the fan too. it was a new xp for me . i love to see how things work and allways willin to try and do it for my self even if i mess things up. i'm learning doe. I was asking around how much they wanted to hook my MB up and got prices from 99 to 125 bucks to do it. im glad i was able to install it myself, and again thanks for the speedy reply bro.... :)
